A player prop turns a star’s night into a bet, which is why NBA player props are popular with Pinoy basketball fans who follow individual stats. This page explains the common stat lines, how a line and a price work together, and what happens to your stake if the player sits out. For the basics behind every market, read how sports betting works from price to payout.

What NBA player props are

NBA player props are bets on one player’s stat in one game. The game result does not matter, only the stat line.

Player props split into single stats and combined stats. The table shows the common ones.

PropStat countedExample line
PointsPoints scored24.5
ReboundsTotal rebounds8.5
AssistsAssists6.5
Threes madeThree-pointers made2.5
Points + rebounds + assistsSum of the three36.5

The lines here are illustrations. The book’s board shows the real line for each game.

How a line and a price work together

A prop has a line and a price on each side. You pick over or under the line, and your stake settles at the price.

Take points over 24.5 at a price of 1.91, with a stake of 100. A player who scores 25 or more makes it a winner, and the ticket returns 100 x 1.91 = 191. A player who scores 24 or fewer loses the 100.

On a half-point line there is no push. On a whole-number line such as 24, a final of exactly 24 pushes and the stake returns.

If you see the price written as -110 instead of 1.91, read American odds from the minus and plus prices and convert it.

Combined stat props

Combined props add several stats into one number. A points + rebounds + assists line of 36.5 is over if the total reaches 37.

A worked case: a player finishes with the stat line in the table. The total is 22 + 8 + 6 = 36, which is under 36.5, so the under wins.

Combined lines win more ways than a single stat, because a strong game in one category covers a weak one in another. They also lose more ways when a player is rested.

Player props versus game lines

Player props differ from game lines on spread and total. A spread bet depends on the margin between teams, and a total depends on the combined score of both. A prop depends on one player only.

The numbers a prop needs are simple. A game has 48 minutes of regulation, four quarters of 12 minutes, and a player’s minutes decide most of the stat line. Overtime adds 5 minutes per period and normally counts toward the player’s stats.

What happens when the player sits out

A prop is only as good as the player’s availability. Common practice is to void the bet and return the stake if the player does not play.

  1. Player is inactive before tip-off: the prop is void and the stake returns.
  2. Player plays one minute and leaves: many books count the bet and settle on the stats so far.
  3. Book requires a minimum of minutes: the rules page states it.

Each book writes its own rule. Void bet settlement for props and other markets shows how a returned stake changes a parlay, and the book’s own rules page governs your ticket.

FAQ

What is an NBA player prop?

It is a bet on one player's individual stat in a game, rather than on the game result. Points, rebounds, assists and three-pointers made are the most common lines.

Do overtime stats count for NBA player props?

Common practice counts overtime, because the game's stats include it. Some books restrict a market to regulation, so read its own rules page.

What happens if my player does not play?

Common practice voids the prop and returns your stake. Some books require the player to take the court, and the book's own rules page governs.

Why does a line end in .5?

A half-point line cannot be hit exactly, so it has no push. A line of 24.5 points means 25 or more is over and 24 or fewer is under.
