Color game dice decide every round at a perya table, and the whole game fits in one number: 216. Three dice, six faces each, give 6 x 6 x 6 = 216 equally likely outcomes, and every probability on this page is a count out of those 216. Read it with the rest of the baraha games and table pages open, then compare the board in front of you with the sums below.
How a color game dice round runs
Each of the three dice carries the six colours, one per face. You stake on a colour, the dice are shaken and the board pays by how many dice show your colour.
- Pick the colour or colours you want to stake on.
- Place the stake in the square for that colour before the round closes.
- The three dice stop, and the colours showing are read left to right.
- Your colour on one die, two dice or three dice pays at the rate the board posts for that count.
- Your colour on no die loses the stake.
The online and live versions use the same three-dice logic. Their draw and screen differ from a fairground table, which the color game casino versions page sets out.
Color game odds: one, two and three matches
Your colour has a 1 in 6 chance on each die and a 5 in 6 chance of missing it. Counting the outcomes gives the table below.
| Dice showing your colour | Ways out of 216 | Chance |
|---|---|---|
| None | 5 x 5 x 5 = 125 | 57.87% |
| Exactly one | 3 x 1 x 5 x 5 = 75 | 34.72% |
| Exactly two | 3 x 1 x 1 x 5 = 15 | 6.94% |
| All three | 1 | 0.46% |
The 75 comes from three choices for which die matches, times 25 ways for the other two dice to miss. The four rows add to 125 + 75 + 15 + 1 = 216. A win of any size lands in 91 of 216 rounds, so you lose 57.87 percent of the time on a single colour.
What the board pays and the edge it leaves
Pays differ from board to board, so the payout board at your table is the number that counts. Macau’s published rules for fish-prawn-crab sic bo, a three-dice game with six symbols, pay a chosen symbol 1 to 1 on one die, 2 to 1 on two dice and 3 to 1 on three dice. That makes a handy yardstick for a six-face board, and the edge below uses it.
| Result | Chance | Net per 1 staked |
|---|---|---|
| One match | 75/216 | win 1 |
| Two matches | 15/216 | win 2 |
| Three matches | 1/216 | win 3 |
| No match | 125/216 | lose 1 |
Expected result per 1 staked: (75 x 1 + 15 x 2 + 1 x 3 - 125 x 1) / 216 = minus 17/216, so the board keeps 7.87 percent. At a 100 peso stake that is an average loss of 7.87 pesos a round, and 787 pesos over 100 rounds.
To price any other board, put its three pays in the same sum: (75 x pay1 + 15 x pay2 + 1 x pay3 - 125) / 216. A negative answer is the share of each stake the board keeps. Boards that pay less than 1, 2 and 3 for the two and three match results sit above 7.87 percent.
Color game strategy: one colour or all six
Staking 1 on each of the six colours does not change the edge. The expected number of different colours showing is 6 x (91/216) = 2.53, and the three dice carry 3 matches in total, so the board returns 2.53 + 3 = 5.53 on 6 staked. That is 92.13 percent back, the same 7.87 percent kept.
What a strategy can control is the size and the number of your stakes. A flat stake keeps your loss per round predictable, and fewer rounds mean fewer times the edge applies. Set that limit before you sit down, using the responsible play stake limits page, because the arithmetic gives no stake size that beats the board.
Color game tricks the arithmetic rules out
Every trick that promises a pattern runs into the same fact: the dice do not remember. Check any claim against these three.
- A colour that missed twice is not due. Your colour still misses on the next round 125 times in 216.
- Missing three rounds in a row happens (125/216) x (125/216) x (125/216) = 19.4 percent of the time, so a cold run is ordinary.
- Doubling the stake after a loss does not change the 7.87 percent kept on each round, and a table maximum caps the doubling.
A table that looks off, with dice that stick to a few faces, is a reason to leave, not to bet differently. For the bets and combinations of the same three dice with a regulator’s pay table, see the Sic Bo payout rules page. You must be 21 or older to play at a table that takes real money.
FAQ
What are the odds of winning on the color game?
Your chosen colour appears on at least one of the three dice in 91 of 216 outcomes, which is 42.13 percent. It misses on the other 125, which is 57.87 percent. How much a win pays is printed on the board in front of you.
Does the color game have a house edge?
Yes. A board that pays 1 to 1, 2 to 1 and 3 to 1 for one, two and three matches keeps 17 in every 216 staked, 7.87 percent. A board that pays less on the two and three match results keeps more.
Pwede bang talunin ang color game gamit ang diskarte?
Hindi. Each die has no memory, so every one of the 216 outcomes stays equally likely on the next round. Staking on more colours spreads the stake but leaves the 7.87 percent edge on a 1, 2, 3 board unchanged.
